God's View of Holiness

God’s View of Holiness

What is the purpose of holiness in your life? Is it to prove that you can live a certain way. Pass a test and make the grade? Why does God command us in His Word to be holy? Is He just trying to give us an impossible task so only the ‘best’ people can make it?

When you view holiness the way God does, it changes everything. His longing and desire is to have communion with you, His cherished creation, His child. Because He is holy, the only way that you are able to have this relationship with Him is when you are holy.

Paul wrote in II Corinthians 6:17-7:1 “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing: and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God”

What a promise: Separate yourself from the world and He will be your Father and you will be His child.

You see, it is more than rules and “thou shalt nots”. God is saying, “I desire the relationship we had back in the beginning.”
